Established
in 2002 by Frank Gromling, Ocean
Publishing is a traditional press. That means we do
things the old-fashioned way by making a financial
investment in an author and a manuscript. We produce
and promote each selected book at our own expense,
with its author expected to assist by engaging in
presentations, signings, interviews, and such. To
date, we have published ten titles in fiction,
nonfiction, and poetry, and will produce four more
titles in 2006.
We
do not receive any government subsidy, nor do we do
vanity or print-on-demand publishing. Manuscripts
are evaluated on the quality of their content by an
independent editorial review committee composed of
talented editors and published authors. Despite our
aggressive beginnings, we are still a small
publisher and, as such, only a small number of
submitted manuscripts are accepted for publishing
and it may take up to a year to have a book idea
move all the way to publication.
Frank Gromling is a former business executive who
came out of early retirement when he realized that
he enjoyed the challenges of book publishing. From
his Beverly Beach, Florida, residence, he saw the
need for a small press that would focus on talented
authors who had not yet made it to the big time of
national publication. As a result, all of Ocean’s
authors are rising stars who are making great
strides toward personal and professional success
through their written words.
Frank
is active in local and national publishing efforts.
He is the president of the Florida Publishers
Association, the only statewide organization
designed primarily for book publishers. He also is
member of the board of directors of PMA,
the Independent Book Publishers Association, which
has more than 4,200 independent publisher members.
On that board, he serves as the chair of the
Education Committee, which brings educational
programming to members via the internet and other
technologies. |
